“Lifting has been part of my life for the last 8 years and playing sports since I can remember. This passion for movement has progressed through childhood to college when choosing what to study, and now my everyday life being a collegiate strength and conditioning coach and powerlifting coach. The process of movement, competing, and the opportunities it has given me is what I want everyone I work with to experience.”

What informs your process?

“Mentors and continuing education are a huge part of my process. I look up to every strength coach I have worked under because of their persistence, knowledge, and passion. Learning from their experience has helped me create my own process through practical application and education. Continuing education is important to me because it broadens my awareness for new training, recovery, and programming modalities that help me as a coach. ”

“My favorite movements are whatever make me feel the strongest, most athletic, or most challenged. I love to bench because of the strength I have, but I also enjoy any Olympic variations because of the change it gives me from powerlifting movements and challenge of the movements.”

How do you help people achieve their goals?

“Focusing on process goals with an emphasis that health and performance come first, especially with younger more impressionable athletes. Listening to athletes and giving them a voice is also vital to helping them reach their goals. I use this information to better their program and longevity in sport with different programming or tips for the mental side that comes with performance. ”

“Knowledge, trust, and care make a good coach. As a coach, you need to know your why's, get your athletes to trust you with your programming, and care for your athletes in and outside of the gym. Caring for them as a friend rather than a client is what makes a relationship so much stronger. ”

What makes a great coach?

“Knowledge and experience make a good coach, but what separates a good coach from a great coach is someone that cares for the athlete’s needs inside and outside of the sport. As a coach, you need to have your athletes trust you fully with your programming and why you have chosen this career. Building relationships with my athletes and caring for them more deeply than just a client is what I strive for as a coach and is what elevates the athletes experience and outcome.”
